Abstract
Background: Digital 3D modelling may provide an interactive approach for supporting spatial visualisation in technical education.
Aims: To examine the influence of the use of digital 3D modelling on the development of students' spatial visualisation ability in technical education.
Study Design: The research used a randomised experimental pre-test-post-test design with a control group and an experimental group.
Place and Duration of Study: Primary School "Hasan Kikić", May 2026.
Methodology: Sixty-four students participated in the research and were divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group worked with software in which 3D modelling was applied, while the control group learned through traditional methods. The research used a pre-test-post-test model, and the level of spatial visualisation was evaluated using the Revised Purdue Spatial Visualization Test (Revised PSVT).
Results: Although both groups showed improvement after the intervention, the experimental group demonstrated greater improvement. Its mean score increased from 10.31 to 16.34 points, while the control group's mean score increased from 11.16 to 12.78 points. The mixed analysis of variance showed a significant time-by-group interaction, F(1, 62) = 14.10, p < 0.001, ηp² = 0.185.
Conclusion: The results indicate that the use of digital 3D modelling can significantly enhance students' spatial visualisation skills.
